Tilburg, Fontys Academy of the Arts, Muziekzaal

New chamber opera in one act upon the timeless story of Antigone, focused on the conflict between moral duty and the law of the state.
After a brutal civil war, Antigone defies the decree of her uncle, King Creon, by burying her brother Polynices, who fought against the city of Thebes. Despite Creon’s edict forbidding the burial, Antigone sticks to her beliefs, leading to a tragic confrontation that ends with her death and the downfall of Creon’s power.
The libretto, in Italian, is written by musicologist and pianist Chiara Bertoglio and the music is composed by Gabriele Petouchoff.
